Cuba, the largest island in the Caribbean and only 90 miles south of Key West Florida, is known for the vibrancy of her people and the local culture, salsa dancing, unspoiled beaches, and a strong art and music scene.

Cuba is now experiencing a warming of relations with the United States, including the recently re-opened US Embassy in Havana, symbolizing the ever-closer return of normalized relations and trade between these once-friendly nations. Although it has been open to tourism from around the world for many years, such as the Canadians and Europeans who visit Cuba, the country is still underdeveloped by most standards. For many travelers, that is part of the appeal and Cuba remains a beautiful place in transition.

The Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Arrive to Havana

Your trip begins with a flight across the beautiful Caribbean Ocean, and into Cuba and the capital city of Havana ! Arrive to Havana airport, where your local, Cuban guide will be waiting to take you the short drive into the city center. After checking into our casa for the next two nights, we’ll have time to walk around and get oriented, exchange money, and have our first Cuban dinner.

  • Day 2 - Explore Havana

A full day of actively exploring the fascinating city of Havana, which dates from the 1500’s, and the people who live there. After breakfast, we’ll make a short morning visit - in a restored classic 1950s American car - to the Cuban home of Ernest Hemingway where he wrote “The Old Man and The Sea”, followed by the historic Old Town, with the beautiful colonial architecture and iconic buildings like the Art Deco, iconic Bacardi building.
  • Day 3 - Las Terrazas & VInales

Drive to the stunning and lush green hilly scenery of Vinales, a UNESCO World Heritage Centre, stopping first at an artist colony along the way. Once in Vinales, we will have time to wander around this small town and outlying farms, and the random encounters with the locals of this small friendly community.
  • Day 4 - Rural Vinales

Spending the entire day and evening in Vinales, we will make a supportive and educational visit to a working, multigenerational tobacco farm. We’ll get a hands on and close up explanation of the process by real local Cuban farmers. After lunch at a locally owned family restaurant, we will further explore the area on either horseback or auto (your choice), including a visit to a well known local cave, or just relax on your porch watching life in this idyllic mountain farm town while chatting with the locals. Enjoy a famous Vinales sunset along with an authentic and local Cuban family dinner.
  • Day 5 - Vinales & Havana

After breakfast, we will return back to Havana where we will still have plenty of time for a visit to two interesting places, the Museum of the Revolucion, the Museum of Fine Arts along with a special educational talk and interaction with some of their staff. Before dinner, we will make a short visit by car to a local neighborhood park, kick around a ball or chat baseball or current events with the locals, and ending with a last night celebratory dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in Havana.
  • Day 6 - Depart Havana

After breakfast, depending on the time of your departing flight you may still have time to spend in Havana, before we drive you to the airport for your flight; the guide will be with you and make sure everything goes okay with checkin. Buen viaje y hasta lo proximo !
